Materials You Will Need:
• Crochet hook size: G/4.00mm
• Worsted weight yarn: Green, dark green
• Yarn needle
• One pair of 12 mm safety eyes*
• Polyester fiber fill stuffing
*Note: The safety eyes are also called shank back eyes; they are sold at Etsy, Walmart, your local craft
store, Amazon, ebay, etc. The safety eyes are highly recommended, but they can be substituted with
black buttons or yarn if you prefer.
Final measurement for the finished dinosaur is 7 inches tall.
Abbreviations:
ch(s) – chain/chains
sc – single crochet
st - stitch
sts – stitches
dec – sc decrease st*
*Single crochet decrease stitch explanation:
Insert the hook into the next stitch and yarn over. Pull a loop through so that there are now 2 loops on
the hook. Insert the hook into the next stitch and yarn over. Pull a loop through so that there are now 3
loops on the hook. Yarn over again and pull the loop of yarn through all 3 loops on the hook.
Note: This pattern is worked in continuous rounds.
Head
With green yarn,
Round 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: Sc 2 in each st around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (30 sts)
R6: (Sc 4, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (36 sts)
R7: (Sc 17, 2 sc in next st), 2 times. (38 sts)
R8-13: Sc 38. (6 rounds total)
R14: (Sc 5, dec 1), 5 times, sc 3. (33 sts)
R15: (Sc 4, dec 1), 5 times, sc 3. (28 sts)
R16: (Sc 3, dec 1), 5 times, sc 3. (23 sts)
R17: (Sc 2, dec 1), 5 times, sc 3. (18 sts)
Fasten off. Stuff the head slightly (you will finish stuffing it later). Then, place the 12mm eyes between
Rounds 15 and 16 on the head, with about 4 sts between (they should be just one row above where the 
head ends). Put the washers firmly onto the backs of the eyes.
Snout
With green yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: Sc 2 in each st around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (24 sts)
R5: Sc 24. (24 sts)
R6: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (30 sts)
R7-11: Sc 30. (5 rounds total)
R12: (Sc 3, dec 1), 6 times. (24 sts)
R13: (Sc 2, dec 1), 6 times. (18 sts)
Fasten off, and leave a long tail for sewing the muzzle to the head. Stuff the muzzle with stuffing. Now,
position the opening of the muzzle against the opening of the head and sew together. When you are
almost finished sewing them, finish stuffing both the head and muzzle firmly. Finish sewing closed.
Body
With green yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: Sc 2 in each st around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (30 sts)
R6-9: Sc 30. (4 total rows)
R10: (Sc 3, dec 1), 6 times. (24 sts)
R11: (Sc 2, dec 1), 6 times. (18 sts)
R12-18: Sc 18. (7 total rows)
Fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing. Stuff
body firmly. Sew the body onto the center of
the bottom of the head.
Arms (make 2)
With green yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (9 sts)
R3: Sc 9. (9 sts)
R4: (Sc 1, dec 1) 3 times. (6 sts)
R5-8. Sc 6. (4 total rows)
Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. Stuff
with a little stuffing. Position arms onto the sides of the body facing forwards, and using yarn needle,
sew arms to the sides of the body. The arms should be about 6 rows down from where the body meets
the head.
Legs (make 2)
With green yarn, 
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: Sc 2 in each sc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (18 sts)
R4-6: Sc 18. (3 total rows)
R7: (Sc 1, dec 1), 6 times. (12 sts)
R8: (Sc 2, dec 1), 3 times. (9 sts)
R9-15: Sc 9. (7 total rows)
Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. Stuff the legs. Sew the legs to the bottom of the body, on
either side of the beginning circle of the body. Weave in ends.
Tail
With green yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 4 sc in first ch. (4 sts)
R2: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 2 times. (6 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (9 sts)
R4-5: Sc 9. (2 total rows)
R6: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (12 sts)
R7: Sc 12. (12 sts)
R8: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (15 sts)
R9-12: Sc 15. (4 total rows)
Fasten off, leaving a tail. Sew to the middle of the back of the body, checking to be sure it is centered as
you sew it on.
Spikes (make 5)
With dark green,
R1: Ch 2, 4 sc in first ch. (4 sts)
R2: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 2 times. (6 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (9 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (12 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (15 sts)
Fasten off, leaving a tail. Sew as pictured to the
top of the head, back of the head, back of the
body, and on the tail.
